Optimal DG Location and Sizing to Minimize Losses and Improve Voltage Profile Using Garra Rufa Optimization

Distributed generation (DG) refers to small generating plants that usually develop green energy and are located close the load buses. Thus, reducing active as well reactive power losses, enhancing stability reliability, many other benefits arise in case of a suitable selection terms location size DGs, especially smart cities. In this work, new nature-inspired algorithm called Garra Rufa optimization is selected determine optimal DG allocation. The metaheuristic stimulates massage fish activity during finding food using MATLAB software. addition, three indexes which apparently powered loss compounds voltage profile, considered estimate effectiveness proposed method. To validate algorithm, IEEE 30 14 bus standard test systems were employed. Moreover, five cases DGs number tested for both standards provide set complex cases. results significantly show high performance method highly compared particle swarm (PSO) genetic (GA). allocation, method, reduces losses IEEE-14 system up 236.7873%, by assuming 5DGs without DG. Furthermore, GRO increases maximum index IEEE-30 857% 4DGs, whereas GA rises benefit 195.1%.
